Exporting DXF to nc code error

Hi,

When I'm trying to export a dxf file to NC code, it comes up with "No start entity for layer 1". Then it says its generated, but the file size isn't large enough. The file has been used before and worked fine, I only added customized logo for a client. I have deleted the file cnc and tried again, closed in and out of the fastcam program, still has the same result. Any help getting this sorted would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Anthony,

Thanks for getting in touch.

Ok with this sort of error, a few things to Try:

1. Clear CAD Layers

From FastCAM, use the CAD Layers > Remove Layers option

2. Clear Program Paths

Similar to above, clear any Program paths from the drawing from Program Path > Delete all Paths

3. CAD Clean / CAD Compress

If it is a production drawing, use a CAD Clean, if it is a signage drawing, use CAD Compress, without CAD Clean. Here is a guide on CAD Compress:http://response.fastcam.com/knowledge-base/article/how-to-use-cad-compress

Let me know how you go with that!

Cheers,

Alex

Hi Anthony,

From what you have there, it could be that the drawing itself is too big or convoluted. I can see you have 4,182 entities in that drawing. I would recommend doing a CAD Compress and then trying to output again:

http://response.fastcam.com/knowledge-base/article/how-to-use-cad-compress

You may also want to check the contour closure:http://response.fastcam.com/knowledge-base/article/closing-part-contours

Failing that, send me a copy of the file you are having trouble to:

alex.fagan@fastcam.com.au

Try those and let me know how you go!
