FastNEST slow to jostle or move parts

Dear Sir/Maam,

I use FastNEST 7.2.87.

I use the jostle option. A yellow box moves around the parts and the items move very slowly. It can take 10 minutes for a full plate (300 parts with 10 lines and circle in the part on plate) to complete one pass (before it starts again and moves a little more). Many parts on the plate.

I have an idea - If I use the arrow keys the parts move very slowly too. It takes a long time.

I try again - If I zoom into the parts so I see a small number of parts it is faster.

When in jostle the software stops responding. I need to wait and it starts responding.

What is the problem? Please help.

Hi Silvio,

Most likely there is going to be very little we can do to optimize that version of FastNEST, as it is a standard V7 OEM copy.

If you like I can review the nest as apart of FastNEST 8, and see if the jostling works better there? To do this you would need to submit a service email with the nest loaded:

Finally, if you just want to turn it off, you can do that too:

Let me know how you go!

Dear Alex,

Thank you for your time.

The service email does not work. The screen is full of illegible characters when we try this.

Turning off the function os not a solution. The parts are separated by a distance greater than the clearance set and they need to move closer to each other. If we zoom into the job the jostle function speeds up. The type of part is not specific as any type of part in quantity exposes this behaviour.

As the software is not supported and a service email not possible (it appears that the software was released without testing), we thank you for your efforts and we will begin to evaluate other alternatives before deciding on any migration path.

Salutation,

Silvio

Hi Silvio,

If you check the last page of the service email guide, it says how to send a service email when that function is illegible. It's usually caused by being a Chinese OEM copy of FastCAM.

Cheers,

Alex
