Overview: This guide helps resolve missing FastCAM desktop icons or Executables caused by antivirus False Positive detection
Issue
- FastCAM icon or software is missing from the desktop, even though the FastCAM folder exists at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\FastCAM - FastCAM Executables (EXEs) have gone missing, despite previously working, or after a fresh install
- QE is mentioning that it cannot find nesting engine or needed files.
Cause
- Antivirus has quarantined the Executables (EXEs) erroneously
Resolution Steps – Antivirus
- Confirm that FastCAM EXEs are whitelisted in antivirus software.
- If not, add them into your Antivirus’ whitelist.
- You can often add the whole FastCAM Folder, to prevent this occurring in the future after doing an update
- Try temporarily disable their antivirus software for testing purposes
- Remember to turn these back on when you are done, or set a Disable Timer such as 15 minutes to do this in.
- Restart the system after making any changes.
Resolution Steps – Repair Installation
- Right-click the installer and select Run as Administrator.
- Choose the Repair option and complete the installation process.
- Verify that the FastCAM desktop shortcut has been restored.
- Confirm that the software launches correctly.
- Turn the AV back on, and try again
- Run it once or twice to confirm AV is not detecting any issues
- If you do detect issues, check the whitelist again
