FastCAM MTO File Loading & Data Entry

Overview: This guide outlines how to use MTO's Import feature and how to manually input parts. Users can import various file types including DXF, CAM, NC1 (DSTV) and KISS

Step 1. Importing CAM Files

  • Open the Import menu in MTO.
  • In the submenu, change the file extension filter to CAM.
  • Select the CAM files you wish to import into MTO.
  • Because these are CAM Files, you will can Enter material type and thickness (optional). If your parts have different specifications, you can enter them now or update them after import.
  • Enter the quantity for each part.
  • Click Import to add the files into MTO.
  • Hover Over any file to see a part preview.
  • Click Check All to ensure all parts are properly added to the MTO database.




Step 2. Importing NC1 Files (Required for QE Users)

  • Note: This is the method to import NC1 files into QE
  • Go to the Import menu.
  • Change the file extension filter to NC1.
  • Select the NC1 files to be imported.
  • Details for each NC1 file (length, grade, etc.) will populate automatically. This is because NC1s (DSTVs) are fully formatted.
  • Enter the quantity for each part.
  • Click Open.
  • Click Check All to validate the imported data.



Step 3. Manual Entry of Parts

  • Users also have the option to manually input part data.
  • Begin by entering the following information:
  • Part Description
  • Quantity
  • Length
  • Material Grade
  • Once data is entered, click Check All.
  • Note: If any cells appear red, it means the part is not recognized in the MTO database. You will need to correct this or it will not output. You can either Set an Alias, or rename the part


Step 4. Resolving Unrecognized Parts (Using Alias)

  • Right-click on the red cell.
  • From the submenu, select Create Alas.
  • Browse the MTO database and find the correct part to use as an alias.
  • You can also manually input a close match.
  • Once you’ve identified the correct part, check the box labeled Alias to save this mapping.
  • Click Check All again to confirm the replacement.



Step 5. Final Step: MTO File Completion

  • After all parts are imported or entered and validated, your MTO file is now ready for use.
