Mapping new DXF layer to cutting/marking process in FastCAM

As we come across files with new DXF layers, we have a need to map these new layers to the existing list of DXF layers in FastCAM/FastNEST.

This can be done via FastCAM. Firstly load the file with the new layer into FastCAM. "DXF Restore" for instance if we are working with DXF files.

See the steps below depending on whether we are working with FastCAM7 or FastCAM8:

Instructions for FastCAM8

1. Click on the Tab "Layering", and then click on "List"

2. Map operation to list of DXF layers found

We will see the new layer(s) on the left
and pre-defined layers on the right
For the new layer showing "Match" = "No"
Click on the box in the same row under "Operations"
And link it to an existing Operation by its name.

3. Confirm the mapping is correct, then click on Exit Button on the bottom right

4. Confirm updating of DXF.DAT for future use. Click "Yes" when asked to update DXF.DAT

* In case a mistake was made, to reset the mappings, repeat the above and choose the correct process.

Instructions of FastCAM7

1. Click on the menu "Cad Layers". and then click on "Show"

2. Map operation to list of DXF layers found

We will see the new layer(s) on the left
and pre-defined layers on the right
For the new layer showing "No" in the "Match" Column,
Click on the box in the same row under "Operation" Column
And link it to an existing Operation by number, click on the matching number.
(In this case "1" is for CUTTING)

3. Confirm the mapping is correct, then click on "Exit" Button on the bottom right

4. Confirm updating of DXF.DAT for future use. Click "Yes" when asked to update DXF.DAT

And this concludes the guide for mapping new DXF layers to processes in FastCAM.
