FASTCAM: NC Code Output Unit Issue

Hi guys, in FastCam, when I go over into Setup -> Options -> NC Settings and change the default of NC Output Code Units from Inch to Metric, I press OK and it changes back to Inches instead of what I selected (Metric).

Hi Joshua,

At the moment that option is not functional.

If you want to switch over to METRIC, from your existing INCH setup, you need to edit your SETUP.DAT file for FastCAM.

To do this:

  1. Close all FastCAM NC Products (FastCAM / FastNEST / FastPLOT)
  2. Find your SETUP.DAT file. This file will exist in your FastCAM Folder, which is usually located at C:\Program Files (x86)\FastCAM\
  3. Right Click the file and Open the SETUP.DAT in NOTEPAD
  4. Look for the line that starts with UNITS
  5. For Metric, set first two numbers after UNITS to 0, e.g. UNITS,0,0,0
  6. For Inch, set the first two numbers after UNITS to 1, e.g. UNITS,1,1,0
  7. IMPORTANT: LEAVE THE LAST NUMBER AS YOU FIND IT, ONLY ALTER THE FIRST TWO NUMBERS AFTER UNITS
  8. Save the SETUP.DAT to the FastCAM Folder. If it doesn't allow you to save in the FastCAM Folder, then save it to the Desktop, and copy it back to the FastCAM Folder manually through File Explorer.
  9. Restart FastCAM and you will see it is now in your desired system.
