FastCAM QE - Material Groups & Plates

Overview: This guide explains how to manage material groups and plates in the QE software’s Configuration tab.

1: Access Material Groups

  • Open the Configuration tab.
  • Find the Material Groups list.

  • Check the group codes and material descriptions.

2: Add a New Material

  • Go to the Actions and click Add

  • Enter the new material details.

  • Click Save to add it to the database.

3: Delete a Material

  • PLEASE NOTE: Only do this for groups that have no plates associated with it. So likely a freshly added, but perhaps incorrectly spelt group.
  • Select the material to remove.
  • In the Actions tab, click Delete.

  • Confirm to remove it from the list.

4: Manage Plates

  • Click the Plates icon next to a material group.

  • View the list of available plates.
  • Select a group to see its plate details.

  • You can adjust any values in this table, but be aware it is LIVE. So any values adjusted take effect immediately.
  • Things you may want to adjust more regularly are Sell and Cost rates. Also if a plate is active or not. For instance if you no longer stock that particular plate size

5: Bulk Adjust Sell/Cost Values

  • In the Actions tab, click Adjust Sell/Cost.

  • Here you can Bulk update the Sell or Cost Values of your plates. You can do this via
    • Fixed value - The value set will become the new value for Sell or Cost
    • Percentage factor- The Value will be used as a multiplier. So 1.1, as above, will mean a 10% increase
    • Cost mark-up percentage - Setting the Sell value as a Mark up value from the cost, as a multiplier. E.g. a value of 1.2 will mean Cost + 20%.
  • Save changes.

6: Add a New Plate

  • In the Plates section, go to Actions and click Add.

  • Input all required plate details.

  • Click Save.

7: Delete or Disable a Plate

  • To delete:
    • Select the plate.
    • Click Delete in the Actions tab.

  • To disable:
    • Check the Disable box.

  • PLEASE NOTE: It is far preferable to make a plate Inactive, rather than delete it. Unless it was freshly added and is incorrect.

8: Configure Plate Settings

  • Enable RTS Auto Trim for automatic trimming. This will allow it to have an Return to stock when RTS is enabled.
  • Click Default to set standard size/thickness.This will set this plate as the default one, when a particular Thickness and material are selected in QE
